Gross revenue is the number everyone brags about at dinner.
It sounds impressive til you look at what's actually left over and realize you just worked 80 hours a week to take home less than your accountant.
Not funny. Well, kind of funny but mostly just painful.
Net is the only number that matters. What did the business actually keep? What hit your pocket? What changed in your life?
3 things worth looking at this week:
1) Are you discounting to close deals? Stop that. Every time you bend on price you are telling the market your number was never worth it to begin with.
2) Are you scaling revenue without knowing your margins? You could be growing a monster that eats everything you make. Fix the math before you scale the mess.
3) Are you still the one touching everything? Come on... if you been on my list longer than a minute, you know better than that.
Gross gets you the brag. Net buys back your time.
