Before you shut it down for the weekend, check these 5 things:

1. Test your own business.

Call, email or fill out your own forms. See how long it takes to get a response. Your customers already know the answer.

2. Find the customer or client you dread.

Add up the rework, calls, discounts and all the time time they consume. Your biggest headache might end up being your worst profit. Raise the price and reset the rules, or cut them loose.

3. Read your competitors' one-star reviews.

Look for the same complaints: slow response, bad communication, poor quality, missed deadlines. If you have the same issue, fix it. If you don't, make it a selling point.

4. Reopen old proposals.

Start with the people who asked for help in the last 60 days. They know you already. Warm it up, apologize for the delay and ask what you can do for them.

5. Make the call you've been avoiding.

You know which one. Make it before Monday and quit letting it rent space in your head all damn weekend.

20 minutes of focus right now can show you exactly where the leaks are.
